So, you'd like to be an RA? Great! The selection process for our 2008 - 2009 staff will be getting under way soon! Becoming an RA is a great way to get invoved on campus and make a difference in the lives of your fellow students.

On this page you will find all of the information you need if you'd like to apply to become a Resident Assistant. Applications will be available after November 1.

The Process

  1. Obtain an Application

    Applications will be available beginning on November 1. You may obtain an application at each of the information sessions, in the Residence Life office, located in room 203 of Bruce Hall, and on our Application Documents page.

  2. Application Review

    When you submit your completed application to the Residence Life office, our staff will review your materials. After our inital review of the application materials, we will invite qualified candidates to participate in our Group Process Session and Interviews

  3. Group Process

    Early in the Spring semester we will hold multiple 'Group Process' sessions. Candidates will come and participate in small groups working on problem solving and other exercises. The dates, times, and locations of these sessions will be announced later.

  4. Interviews

    Each cadidate in the proccess will participate in an interview with a Residence Life staff member.

  5. Notification of Appointment

    After both the Group Process and Interview pieces, we will extend offers to candiates for RA positions. We will also extend offers for our "Eligible for Hire" pool. Eligible for Hire status means that you are in our process as an alternate. Every year we go to this pool to fill additional openings.

  6. Residence Life Traning Class.

    During the last six weeks of the Spring Semester, candidates who have been offered a definate RA position and candidates in our Eliglble for Hire pool will participate in a training class. It will meet once a week and cover topics that you'll need to know as a Resident Assistant.

  7. Fall Training

    All persons appointed as RAs will arrive to campus in mid-August to complete fall training. More information about this training will be provided during the Residence Life class in the spring.
