Residence Life Staff

The people who live and work in your building are a special sort. They have dedicated themselves to ensuring that you have the most positive living learning experience possible here at the University of Pittsburgh. Some of their responsibilities include planning programs and events for the floor or building, responding to emergencies, providing resources or referrals when necessary, coordinating academic services, and enforcing policies.

Resident Directors

RD's are responsible for the overall management and supervision of your building. Long before you arrived, they were busy planning the year, and getting ready to supervise the Resident Assistant staff. They have professional degree's and/or extensive experience working in a college environment. Many hope to advance in the field, and become college Dean's, Provosts, or even Presidents!

Assistant Hall Directors

GA's are graduate students who work in residence halls as Assistants to the Resident Directors. They may run a floor, oversee some of the administrative aspects of the building, supervise Resident Assistants, and advise the buildings RSA council. All this, and they get really good grades!

Program Coordinators

Each of our buildings we have Resident Assistants who have been designated as our programming 'experts'. These students coordinate the programming efforts within their building, and provide assistance to the other RAs. They have excelled as Resident Assistants, and now pursue more leadership responsibilities in this challenging position.

Resident Assistants

RA's are some of the most important people on staff here at the University. They are students, just like you, who have committed themselves to one of the most impressive leadership positions on campus. They are there for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing resource information, crisis response, academic and social support, fun times, and a safe, comfortable living environment.
